Safety
Your safety as our guest is our top priority!
We actively work to operate a facility that is top-notch in safety standards.
This includes, among other things, a mandatory helmet requirement throughout the facility, regardless of age or skill level.
As a guest, you can be assured that we follow the guidelines set for our work and our industry.
Our rules and routines:
Every day, we have ski patrol and operational staff on-site who inspect all the slopes, lifts, and conveyor belts.
No guests are allowed on the chairlift until both operations and ski patrol give the green light.
The facility has set routines for, for example, poor visibility, lost guests, injury management, avalanches, etc.
- A helmet is mandatory at our facility (no exceptions).
- Children must be at least 10 years old AND over 140 cm tall to ride the chairlift alone.
- In case of reckless behavior that could put others at risk, our staff has the authority to expel guests from the facility.
Welcome to a safe and injury-free season!

- Helmet is mandatory
-
A helmet is mandatory for absolutely everyone.
Hovden Alpine Center was one of the first facilities in the country to introduce a helmet requirement, something we proudly continue into future seasons. Wearing a helmet helps reduce the risk of serious and life-threatening injuries when accidents occur.
Helmet rental: You can rent a helmet at "Hovden Aktiv". Children up to 6 years old can rent a helmet for free, but must still register.
- Your responsibility as our guest
-
When you visit us, you play an important role in our safety efforts. It is essential that you come prepared for your visit to our facility.
Below is a summary of the most important rules you need to know before hitting the slopes:- You must follow the Alpine Safety Rules.
- You must wear a helmet.
- You are responsible for dressing appropriately for the weather conditions.
- You must not appear intoxicated or bring alcohol into our facility.
- Violations of our signs and guidelines may result in being expelled from the facility.
- As a guardian, you are responsible for ensuring that your children follow the rules.
- How to use the chair lift
-
The chair lift to the top takes approximately 8 minutes, but due to various reasons, there may be operational interruptions.
Ask yourself – If you experience a longer stay, are you adequately dressed?General Rules
- You cannot take the chairlift back down.
- You cannot board the chairlift without a helmet.
- You cannot board the chairlift on foot (during winter) or with a sled.
- Snowboards must always be secured to one foot while riding the lift (regardless of age).
- Do not throw objects or trash from the lift (there are trash bins at the bottom and top).
- In winds over 18 m/s, the lift will be emptied of passengers and closed until conditions improve.
Who can use the chairlift?
- Guests with a lift pass.

- Guests wearing alpine skis, sit-skis, snowboards and helmets.
- Guests with cross-country skis, pulks, and possibly a dog for cross-country skiing on the mt. Storenos trails. At the end of the season, both dogs and cross-country skis are prohibited on the chairlift due to restrictions in the area.
How to use the chairlift?
- A maximum of 4 guests per chair.
- Walk all the way to the edge before sitting down on the chair.
- Lower the safety bar as soon as you leave the platform.

- The most common cause of stops is users error. Make sure to stay fully focused until you have safely boarded or exited the lift.
- The lift may also be closed due to poor visibility (fog, heavy snow, etc.).
- In the event of an unexpected, longer operational stop, information will be provided through the speaker system.
- Technical issues may cause longer operational interruptions, and rescue operations will be initiated if necessary.
- The 10 alpine skiing rules
-
1: Every skier must act in a way that does not cause harm to themselves or others. Speed and skiing style must be adapted to skill level, terrain, conditions and traffic on the slopes. Skiing straight downhill is prohibited exept during organized training.
2: Skiers approaching from behind are responsible for avoiding collisions.
3: Anyone entering or crossing a slope must ensure it is done safely.
4: The same rule applies after stopping.
5: Do not stop in narrow or blind spots.
6: Skiers moving uphill must use the edges of the slope.
7: Ski stoppers are mandatory. Ensure bindings are properly adjusted.
8: Follow signs, markings, and instructions.
9: In the event of an accident, everyone has a duty to assist.
10: Witnesses and involved parties must provide their personal details.
Alcohol and skiing do not mix!
Violations of the alpine skiing rules may result in expulsion from the facility. - Zigzag skiing
-
Zigzag skiing in our lifts is considered a serious violation of the rules.
Why is this serious?
- The rope/cable on the lift can derail and hit all guests on the lift.
- The hook can create a massive tension in its own cable, potentially throwing you uncontrollably into the air.
- You obstruct safe evacuation for ski patrol and operational staff.
- You increase the risk of collision with lift masts, trees, or snowmobiles during an emergency response.
Consequences of the action:
Your lift pass may be confiscated without refund. In case of repeated incidents, you may be banned from the resort. - Kiting and paragliding
-
Planning to go out with a kite, paraglider, or other air traffic equipment? Then you must coordinate with us before heading out. Activities in and over our facility must be cleared with the operations manager prior to arrival.
Rules for air traffic:
-
It is prohibited to cross over or under lifts/tows.
- Landing in slopes or guest areas is strictly forbidden.
- A safe landing area outside our trail network must be defined and agreed upon with our operations manager in advance.
