Randonee skiing to Strandenuten

Randonee skiing to Strandenuten

The Strandenuten mountain offers many great lines through sparse birch forest, often in wonderful, pristine snow.

The Bjørnevasshytta tourist cabin is a good starting point for several randonnées. This is a no-service cabin belonging to the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT). It is located along the road Fv. 450 between the villages Dalen in Telemark and Valle in Setesdal. When driving the main road RV9 through Setesdal, take the Fv. 450 exit approx. 7 kilometres north of Valle. After some 15–20 minutes’ drive you will see the cabin Bjørnevasshytta.

Before approaching the Strandenuten mountain, which is located in the southern end of lake Bjørnevatn, you have to make sure that the ice is safe for crossing.

The Strandenuten mountain offers many great lines through sparse birch forest, often in wonderful, pristine snow.
The summit is relatively avalanche-safe, but further east there are steeper and more challenging lines. Be aware of this, as a number of them may contain areas with avalanche risk and terrain traps. But during safe weather and snow conditions, and if your physical condition is good, you may explore several exciting lines at Strandenuten in one day.

And if you make it to the summit, please write your name in the guestbook.
